Assistant Food and Beverage Manager Salary £21000.00 Hours 40 hours per week Based in central London (Russell Square) The Generator is the largest backpacker tourist hostel in the UK with over 800 beds. Located in the heart of the central London we are situated between Russell Square and Kings Cross stations. The hostel has a Bar Travel Shop Caf Chill Out Room and a Canteen style dining area. The Generator Hostel has all the operational departments that you would find in a large operational hostel. The only difference is that the Generator sells dormitory style rooms and not private rooms and our main target market is the backpacker traveller. We are currently looking for a Assistant F&B Manager to manage and lead the F&B department alongside the current F&B Manager. The F&B department consists of a Travel Shop Cafe Bar Kitchen and our Events team. The role Overall responsibility for the efficient and effective running of the Food and Beverage Department food preparation Kitchen Caf and Bar and Travel Shop. To maximising profit opportunities in all F&B outlets To execute company and hostel policies and procedures thereby ensuring that all services provided achieve the established standards within the agreed budgetary controls. Along with the F&B Manager advise the General Manager and Operations Manager on all matters relating to the Food and Beverage Department. To raise standards of the Generator Hostels F&B outlets and maintain these standards once met. To ensure that all F&B outlets comply with all relevant legislation relating to Health and Safety Food Hygiene Regulations and licensing legislation. To promote a safe healthy and environmentally hygienic F&B department. To control weekly payroll to the monthly budget and take appropriate action to obtain best results. Interpret and act upon information provided by the F&B Manager and Finance Manager in relation to Food and Beverage costs. Authorisation and control of all food and beverage store non-consumables and purchase requisitions must be authorised and accounted for. Ensure effective cost and product control to minimise wastage. To be responsible for the smooth and effective running of the day to day operation of all Food and Beverage outlets thereby ensuring that established standards of performance are maintained achieving satisfaction of the guests. To liaise with the Kitchen Chef for the continued achievement of quality food standards expected of the hostel and for the maintenance of a high level of profitability in the service and the production of food. To frequently sample all food and beverage products both items and service thereby ensuring constant quality control. Check in liaison with Kitchen Caf Bar and Travel Shop staff the maintenance of all Food and Beverage areas. To plan organise and control the production of all menus involving menu content design and price structure. To produce and update all Department Operations Manuals for all F&B outlets. Overall responsibility for cleanliness in all Food and Beverage Departments including stores refrigerators etc. Requirements A minimum of 2 years experience at a Food and Beverage Manager level within a busy and large hotel or hostel. Previous experience of working in an operational food and beverage department with a high volume food and beverage conference outlets. 2 years experience in relation to managing a team. To ensure team adherence to all company policies. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and management skills to motivate and empower the teams to achieve revenue and budgetary targets. Intermediate Pc skills on all Ms applications. Strong technical experience in budgeting and forecasting. Proven experience of managing Point of Sale and Property Management Systems.
