URGENT – Live-in nanny to twin boys in St Albans – 20 mins from Kings Cross : St Albans – 20 Minutes From London

We have a vacancy for a kind and gentle nanny for a full-time, live-in position in St Albans, Hertfordshire. The position is initially for three months and you must be able to commit for this time. Mum is pregnant, due late Feb, and we’re currently deciding what to do when the baby arrives, so employment could well be extended. We are both employed full-time, so the role is to be sole-charge nanny to lovely, funny 2 year 9 month old twin boys with all nursery duties – keeping their room, playroom and high chairs clean and tidy, and any other ad hoc bits, such as picking up bread and milk from the supermarket and emptying the dishwasher/hanging up some washing for us. James and Thomas are happy, loving and a joy to be around and our previous nannies are still in regular touch with “their boys”. The chaps are involved in several playgroups/activities each week, which we would like them to continue to attend. They love singing, dancing, climbing and breaking things, fighting with each other and they have a shameful lack of respect for books and anything electronic so you’ll need to guard your mobile!! James is deaf and has cochlear implants. Please, please don’t let this put you off, though!! They’re very straightforward, and he likes wearing them so that he doesn’t miss a trick. James has regular appointments, both at home and at Great Ormond Street, with very enthusiastic audiologists and speech therapists and is making tremendous progress. He is a rather normal and active little chap – very chatty now! – and certainly gives Tom a run for his money! No experience with cochlear implants is required, but a running commentary on what’s happening in simple terms and working on speech and language with both boys would be great. It’s really good fun, but you do have to have a good sense of humour, be very firm with them and be prepared to get stuck in! Needless to say, we are looking for someone very special: * A gentle person with a bit of childcare experience, who genuinely enjoys taking care of small children, and who, ideally, has experience with twins, or certainly two siblings very close in age * Someone with the energy and knowledge to stimulate the boys’ development and make the day fun with activities inside and outside the house * A clear CRB check * A non-smoker * First-aid training preferred * A driving licence is required, as James attends a deaf playgroup once a week that is 15 minutes away by car * A valid work permit for the UK that doesn’t expire for the duration of employment * 100% fluent English * Sensitivity to slip away when we get home until after the boys have gone to bed – we really value our precious hour or so with them before their bedtime Hours are 7:30 am to 6.30 pm Monday-Friday. No weekends are required, as we covet this time with the boys. If you wish, we would welcome you to share meals and conversation in the evening during the week and be part of the family. You will have your own room for privacy. We are close to the park and walking distance to the town centre with very good shopping and facilities. St Albans has fast and frequent train links to central London (20 minutes to London St Pancras International (Kings Cross)). Salary is negotiable based on experience. If you are interested, please email us with your contact details, CV/summary of work experience and a description of yourself, what you are looking for in your next position and your salary expectations. We will only reply to suitable candidates and you will need to be available for interview this weekend with a view to starting next week. We really look forward to hearing from you!
